        Linux FAQ, which seems to correct the problem.

        invoking macros with empty arguments (e.g. the default value of
        FFTW_REAL_SUFFIX) produces undefined behavior in ANSI C (the 1989
        ISO standard).  (The C9X standard will fix this.)
